Mikhail Rudoy (viola) was born on March 8th 1986 in Moscow. He began his studies on the violin at the age of 5. In 2001 he entered Moscow Special Gnessin Music School where he studied viola with Prof. E. Ozol. In 2004 he continued his studies in Moscow State Conservatory with I. Naidin (Borodin Quartet) and in Ghent University with prof. M. Kugel. Mikhail’s chamber music teachers include prof. A. Bonduryansky (Moscow Trio) and prof. A. Shishlov (Shostakovich Quartet).
Mikhail has been awarded with III Prize at the 14th International Johannes Brahms chamber music competition in Pörtschach, Austria, 2007, Grand-Prize at the 1st T. Gaidamovich Chamber Music Competition in Magnitogorsk, Russia, 2007 I Prize and special prize at of the 3rd International Sergey Taneyev Chamber Ensemble Competition in Kaluga, Russia, 2008, II Prize at the “Night & Sun” International String Quartet Competition in Rovaniemi, Finland, 2009, and the II Prize at the International Nikolay Rubinstein competition of Chamber Ensembles and String Quartets in Moscow, Russia, 2010.
In 2011 Mikhail joined the New Russian Quartet. The Ensemble had toured extensively in venues including Royal Festival hall (Purcell room) and Kings Place in London, Auditorio Nacional de Musica in Madrid, Seoul Arts Center, lots of concerts in Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands etc. NRQ collaborated with such prominent musicians as Shlomo Mintz, Alexey Volodin, Alexander Rudin, Vadym Kholodenko and many others.
