Korean violist Jieun Kim pursued her first musical studies at Sookmyung Women’s University in 2013 (Seoul, South Korea) under Sungeun Kim. Thereafter she moved to the Netherlands for her master degree and chamber music degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag under the tutelage of Ásdís Valdimarsdottir and Timur Yakubov.
As a soloist, Jieun won the first prize at the Sejong University Competition and the Grand prize at the Universal Music Competition. She is also active as a chamber musician. She was principal violist of Sookmyung Philharmonic and Speranza Chamber Orchestra, andinvited to Indiana University to join IU Concert as a member of Quartet On.
After moving to the Netherlands, Jieun has performed in various festivals and with professional venues such as Residentie Orkest, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, New European Ensemble, Asko|Schönberg, Het Promenade Orkest, Gaudeamus Festival, and De Doelen Ensemble.
